"TIDLOS," a group of five young musicians from Norway, will present a concert at the Chapel in the Hills Tuesday, Oct. 4 at 6:30 p.m. In their own words, they play hymns to inspire all ages and redistribute them to the younger generation. "Young people in Norway are no longer so familiar with these wonderful songs and lyrics."
Using a combination of vocals, bass, guitar, piano, Irish bouzouki, flutes, and accordions to play Norwegian and Scandinavian hymns, this band is truly on a mission to preserve this traditional sacred music for future generations. Many psalms have been set to Norwegian folk tunes or have been set to music by Norwegian hymn writers. TIDLOS will gives these tunes a modern flair as they pass their faith along. Find them on Facebook here.
The group has toured in Iceland and the Faroe Islands, seeking out those locations’ Norwegian roots. They have released four CDs so far, and they will be available for sale at the concert. No admission will be charged. This promises to be a night of great music and Scandinavian culture. Plan to attend!
